Join me for a three-day workshop June 25, 26, and 27th in and around Midway/ Heber Utah. (Exact location will be sent out prior to the workshop) The workshop will go from 9:30-5pm each day.
In this workshop we will focus on painting the landscape en plein air and everything that goes along with it. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced painters. Participants will have an opportunity to send me any painting related questions before the event, that I will strive to cover during our time together. We will also cover topics such as value, shape, color, edges, composition, and variety, among others.
Painting Materials:
Participants will be responsible for bringing their own materials. I recommend bringing what you are comfortable painting with.
As a point of reference, I will be bringing the following:
Brushes: #4, #8, #12 Flats, #8 Round, #12 Round (all are hog hair bristle).
Palette: Titanium White, Cad Yellow Light, Cad Red Light, Yellow Ochre, Ultra Marine Blue
Surfaces: I like to paint on linen panels, or gessoed hardboard. Bring what you are comfortable painting on. For plein air painting I typically try to work small, so I’d recommend bringing sizes between 4×6”, 6×8, 8×10, and 9×12”. You can also bring an 11×14” panel and divide it in four parts with drafting tape. This allows you to paint small while capturing multiple views in a short amount of time.
Gear: Sealable stainless steel can with Gamsol, pochade box, sturdy tripod, paper towels, trash bags, and a backpack to carry everything.
In addition to painting gear I recommend everyone bring:
Sun Hat
Sun Screen
Water
Snacks
Camp Chair or Stool
Sturdy shoes for walking in the outdoors
Sketch Book and Pencil
Bug Spray
*If you have any questions about what to bring or not bring feel free to email me and I’d be happy to provide more info.
